Swimming pool water recycling skid

• Public swimming pools are required to renew a minimum of 30 litres of water per day per bather. This measure has been strengthened by the requirement of a maximum reference value for chlorides, applicable since 01/01/2022, which, in order to be respected, necessitates going well beyond the 30 litres per day per bather water renewal.
• The current context of water scarcity and therefore the need to better control the use of this resource, combined with the additional cost that overconsumption causes.

Swimming pool water recycling skid

Principle :

• Membrane systems (ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis), used for fluid/particle separation for several decades, are being employed. Trials on swimming pool water have shown limitations in their use with this type of water (investment, operation, membrane degradation with chlorine content). Based on this information, the skid is sized to treat only a portion of the flow, with regulation provided to treat the flow of generated chlorination by-products.
• We are acting on the swimming pool water, not the wash water which is wastewater.
• The excess water consumed by operators to ensure compliance with the maximum chloride content, beyond the 30 l/day/bather (classically ensured by rinsing GAROfiltre granular glass filters), is no longer necessary.

Regulatory

The order of 26 May 2021 amending the order of 7 April 1981 adds that wash waters (excluding initial waters, which must be directed into the wastewater system) can be reused subject to minimal microfiltration treatment, and compliance with the water quality standards for swimming pool water.
